Now Spinning: May
Broadcasting live from Kaylirose FM — curated chaos and cinematic spirals, one month at a time. 🎙️✨
Don’t tell me May is already over and we’re somehow halfway through 2025.
This month was messy in a quiet way: soft burnout, heavy flashbacks, realizations, too many doctor’s visits, graduation, and a weird kind of hope I didn’t expect to find. Oh — and weird men on Tinder. Be careful out there, my little gremlins.
One guy messaged me for like, an hour, then got mad I didn’t reply the next day and called me bro. Like, sir, why are you talking to me like I’m one of your guy friends?
I told him Parks and Rec is a good show because the characters are best friends who get along despite their differences — and he basically said that’s lame and he only likes shows where people are constantly angry. That should’ve been my first red flag, honestly.
BUT ANYWAYYY. That’s not why we’re here. This isn’t Tinder Trauma FM.
Welcome back to Kaylirose FM, and you know what time it is:
💿 Now Spinning: May
🚨 TL;DR — Your must-listen this month:
“Oh No Darling!” by Sarah Kinsley
Instrumentally, it’s whimsical and elegant — but paired with the lyrics? Thanks for the pain, girl. I guess?
It gives ethereal breakdown while dancing in the rain during your lowest moment in your 20s. As At Wood Magazine put it, the song “reminisces over the fallacies and innocence of youth. It details the specific experience of the narrator — searching for something unknown.”
“I was a kid ‘til I fixed it / Tore into a love affair / Between me and what wasn’t there / Oh, I was kissing you just to feel the air… But are you really there? Were you ever there?”
Yeah. Ouch. Pass the aux cord and a tissue.
💔 Honorable Mentions (aka songs that emotionally uppercut me this month):
“Man” by quinnie — Two years post-breakup and this still hits like it happened yesterday. Healing is a circle.
“Try Your Wings” by Blossom Dearie — Written in 1958. Yes, she’s that girl. Thanks, Dearie.
“Leave Me Alone” by Reneé Rapp — This made it to my 365 Party Girl playlist in record time.
“Don’t Forget Where You Belong” by One Direction — My grad cap inspo. Congrats to the class of 2025!
“party 4 u” by Charli XCX — For when you’d do anything to make it work and they’d let you bleed for it. They love you, just not enough to care.
“Club Classics” by Charli XCX — BRAT summer isn’t a season, it’s a personality disorder. My brain: 365 party girl mode, permanently.
My real life? Just me in my teenage bedroom — smoking my vape, writing on Substack, cuddling my dog, and gossiping with my mum.
Sending love from the quiet chaos of May. See you in June — hopefully with fewer weird Tinder men, and maybe a guy who matches my level of chaotic, but good (No promises, though).
Stay weird.
Stay hydrated.
